Privacy notice

1. Who is responsible

Anna Flis, based in Poland, is the data controller for personal data processed through Brief. You can reach the controller at annaflis083@gmail.com. This notice follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What we collect and why

• Account data (email address, login credentials, or Google sign-in details) — to create and run your account. Basis: contract.
• Study material you upload (topics, text, documents, photos, audio) — only to generate your notes. Basis: contract.
• Saved notes — so you can open them later in My notes. Basis: contract.
• Technical data (IP address, browser and device information, logs) — for security, fraud prevention and fixing problems. Basis: legitimate interests.
• Support messages — to answer your questions. Basis: contract and legitimate interests.

3. Who we share data with

• Service providers that host the app and database and run the AI models that create your notes, acting on our instructions.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where needed.
• Authorities where required by law.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the EEA. Where they do, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.

5. How long we keep data

Uploaded material is used to make your notes and is not kept afterwards. Saved notes and account data are kept until you delete them or your account.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may complain to the Polish supervisory authority, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO, uodo.gov.pl), or the authority in your country. We reply to requests within one month.

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections, access controls, and rules so that each user can only see their own notes.

8. Cookies and local storage

We only use essential storage: to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. You can clear this in your browser settings.
